Pioneering change in recruitment
Offering unique recruitment and training services, specialising in the hospitality sector, as far as we are aware, no other company in the UK is approaching the recruitment industry in the way we are. Working with offenders with an initiative to integrate them back into the workforce, we are challenging misconceptions and taking action that does not just benefit individuals and business', but society as a whole. Below are some obstacles faced by ex-offenders and what we are doing to overcome them.
Challenging the status-quo
According to gov.uk, only 17% of ex-offenders secured a job within a year of release. Even though 86% of those employing ex-offenders rate them as 'good at their job'. Our aim is to shine a light on opportunities for business' to engage in recruitment strategies that improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
Filling the skills gap
Over half of employers struggle to fill vacancies due to skills shortages. Prisoners and ex-offenders have a wide range of skills to suit almost any sector, making them ideal job-ready candidates.
Reduce recruitment costs
Filling the average non-managerial vacancy costs around £2000. Opening recruitment up to ex-offenders can help reduce those overheads.
Reduce staff absence
Unreliability is the biggest concern for employers when they consider hiring an ex-offender. However ex-offenders see their job as a vital second chance so many go the extra mile to secure results and take less time off work than the average UK worker.
Increase Staff retention
Ex-offenders often have higher levels of loyalty because of the higher value they place on having a job and staying out of prison, which can reduce recruitment costs.
Making a difference
Most offenders want the opportunity to turn their backs on crime. Having a job helps them stay out of prison, get their lives back on track and is proven to reduce reoffending.
Giving back
For offenders who are still currently serving a sentence, 40% of their earnings are deducted by the prison and go to the victim of crime fund which provides compensation to victims of crime. This is something that hugely benefits victims of crime and eases the burden on taxpayers.
